I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Government at the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. I studied Economics and Political Science at Stanford University and received my PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University in 2019. I was a postdoctoral fellow at the briq Institute from 2019–2020, now part of the IZA network, where I am a research affiliate.
I am an applied microeconomist working at the intersection of education, labor markets, and public policy in Latin America. My research focuses on understanding how investments in human capital—from early childhood to postsecondary education—translate into improved employability and reduced socioeconomic inequality. I study policies aimed at expanding access, improving quality, and facilitating transitions across the education system, with particular attention to vulnerable populations.
Methodologically, I specialize in causal inference and the use of experimental and quasi-experimental methods to evaluate large-scale public programs. Much of my work is conducted in close collaboration with governments and international organizations, allowing me to generate evidence in real-world policy settings. This approach not only contributes to academic knowledge but also supports evidence-based decision-making, with several of my projects directly informing the design and implementation of education and labor market policies.
